Brief Introduction of the College
The seed for establishing this colossal institution, spread across 38 hectares of land was sown by the most revered, Late Shri Rai Bahadur Chaudhary Amar Singh (O.B.E), in 1905 at his residence in Raees Pali; by starting a primary school for dissemination of education in the adjoining rural area with a vision for developing modern India. During the year 1910, the primary school was shifted to its current location (Lakhaoti). As a result of the tireless efforts of the founder, it got the recognition as Junior high school in 1913 and as high school in 1916. Intermediate in Agriculture and Arts were recognized in 1931 and 1934 respectively. In July 1941, this college was affiliated with Agra University, Agra for graduate degree in Agriculture and Arts faculty. Impressed by the academic progress of this college, Agra university granted recognition for post-graduation in four subjects of Faculty of agriculture namely Agronomy, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Extension and Horticulture. Later in the year 1965, after the establishment of Meerut University (currently named as Chaudhary Charan Singh University), Meerut; the college was affiliated to it. In July 1985, the Meerut University took forward the prestige of the college and awarded M.A. (Political Science) in the faculty of Arts. Currently, the college is operating with 19 departments, 2 hostels, 3 agricultural farms, an extensive library, and a dairy along with orchards under its fleet. The campus is lush green and advocates use of eco-friendly and sustainable practices. The college is well connected with various modes of transport and is situated on the state highway connecting Bulandshahr to Garhmukteshwar.
Due to the recognition of this college amongst the top Agricultural Education Institutions, hundreds of students from different parts of the country come here every year to take education. In this sequence, a good ratio of students is getting employed every year in companies and institutions of national and international repute through the Placement Cell of the college.
Various courses associated with Rajshree Tandon Open University, Prayagraj, are also being conducted in this college (centre code S-505), both in English and Hindi medium. Names of all the courses, eligibility, fee structure, etc can be seen on the university website (www.uprtou.allahabad.org). Considering the available resources of this college, Rajshree Tandon Open University, Prayagraj, has made it examination center for entire 11 colleges of the district.
In past years we have completed number of projects like “Spices and Aromatic Plant Development Project funded by Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture), GOI, New Delhi. The college also organizes short duration training programmes which has benefitted thousands of farmers and people of nearby area with monetary gains.
In recent years, establishment of Computer Labs, online teaching facility in departments and renovation of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry lab have been done. Since past few years, college campus has been fully under the surveillance of CCTV camera, through which various activities of students is being monitored. Presently efforts are being made for computerization of the library. In future, we are planning for the construction of smart classes which will be fully equipped with modern teaching amenities, auditorium for cultural programmes, indoor games hall and various vocational courses for students to enable them generate income and help in nation development.
The college aims to provide quality education along with character building of the students thus enhancing their skills to face different challenges in their respective fields.
