SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a pioneering initiative launched by the Government of India to democratize access to high-quality education nationwide. Led by the Ministry of Education, SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide and offer inclusive education through a comprehensive range of online courses. This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to expand educational outreach and improve quality, utilizing technology to ensure that students from various backgrounds can access premier learning resources.

Objectives of SWAYAM

1. Universal Access to Education: SWAYAM is designed to provide every student, regardless of geographical location or socioeconomic status, with access to quality education.
2. Affordability: By offering courses for free, SWAYAM makes education more affordable, lowering financial barriers that could hinder students from achieving their academic aspirations.
3. Flexibility and Inclusivity: The platform offers flexible courses that accommodate a wide range of learners, from school students to university graduates and working professionals.

Enhanced Learning Experience: SWAYAM combines video lectures, reading materials, self-assessment tests, and interactive forums to create a comprehensive and engaging learning environment.

Steps to Access Courses on SWAYAM

1. 1.     Registration: To begin, register on the SWAYAM portal by visiting https://swayam.gov.in.

   2.     Sign Up: Use your Gmail account for registration (preferred) or choose "SIGN UP NOW." This will lead you to your profile page.

   ·       Personal Details: Enter your username, password, confirm password, and email ID.

   ·       Verification Code: A verification code will be sent to your email ID.

   ·       Verify: Enter the received verification code. Once verified, your account will be created.

   3.     Login: Revisit https://swayam.gov.in. and sign in with your registered email ID.

   4.     Browse Courses: Click on "All Courses" or search in the course catalog. The SWAYAM URL from the course list will take you to the course information page.

   5.     Filter Courses: You can filter the list of courses by categories such as Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Law, Maths and Science, Commerce, etc.

   6.     Enrol in a Course: Select a course. Once the course contents are displayed, click on the red "JOIN" button.

   7.     View Selected Courses: All your selected courses will be listed under "My Course" in your account.
